Patterns We Love for Post-Holiday Yarn Crafting

You did it! You made beautiful gifts for your loved ones during the holiday season, and now everyone you know will be warm and cozy in their lovely handmade sweaters and accessories.

But don't forget about another extra special person who deserves some homemade coziness—YOU! Here at CFC, we're ready for some "selfish" knitting and selfish crochet projects. For inspiration that will get you through the cold winter months to come, we're here to share some of our favorite patterns with you.

Bobbles or ribbed? Knit or crochet? You decide! We love the Zima Bobble Hat pattern designed by our friend Sabina Harnage (@caidree on Instagram). If you need a simple crochet hat design, look no further than a super-simple, easily customizable hat pattern from Make & Do Crew (@makeanddocrew on Instagram), aptly named “The Easiest Crochet Hat Ever.”

If it’s been a while you made a fuss-free project, then now is a great time to get back to the basics with a scarf. Use bulky yarn to work up a quick Fluffie Scarf, designed by Natalya (find her at @natalya1905 on Instagram). Our newest (free!) CFC pattern, the Striped Twisted Cowl, is a one-skein, one-weekend project that you’ll want to wear every day.

And hey, don’t forget about keeping your hands warm! Kristina Smiley’s Convertible Crochet Mittens are a wonderful beginner crochet project, and they’re just as functional as they are beautiful (P.S. Check out more of her work on her Instagram profile, @creativeendeavorsks).

Cardigans to Knit and Crochet This Winter

We know, we know—winter is already in full swing. Even though you may be running out of time to make an elaborate sweater, you can definitely still finish a bulky, simple one in plenty of time to enjoy this winter! The Kinikin Cardigan by Tara-Lynn Morrison (@good_night_day on Instagram) looks gorgeous in any bulky fiber (hello, Alpaca Handspun yarn!), and best of all—it's completely seamless. If you crochet, check out the Dwell Cardigan by Make & Do Crew. Bulky yarn means a speedy finish, and this cardigan's oversized fit and loose drape make it a  perfect piece to layer over a long-sleeve tee.
