Which Yarn Do I Pick?
Sylvan
Our most popular and luxurious base. Alpaca, silk, and cashmere create a dreamy drape. Best for special projects, not high-friction items like socks and mittens.
Serene
Our classic, everyday 100% Merino base. Works for almost anything. Knits up well and gives crisp stitch definition. Tighter twist gives minimal pilling.
Flax
We recommend this for warm-weather knits. It's breathable and surprisingly soft. It gets softer the more you wear it. Flax naturally resists holding onto smells. Great for tanks and tees.
Yak
Feels like cashmere and is great for sensitive skin. It's durable and sturdy. Round and springy, with great stitch definition. Keeps warm in cold weather without heavy weight.
Som
Soft, airy, and weightless. It's breathable enough for year-round wear. Great for crocheters because they don't split easily. Gives good stitch definition but looks best in the classic knit stitch.
Gauge + Yarn
Yarn weight gets you in the right range, but gauge is what decides how your piece fits. DK weight usually knits at
21 - 24 stitches over 4 inches on
US 5 to 7 (3.75 to 4.5mm) knitting needles, and crochet hooks.
It's the everyday middle weight: warm enough for a real sweater, light enough to layer. Knit a swatch and block it before you measure, even if the label matches your pattern. DK yarn is ideal for sweaters, cardigans, baby blankets, hats, cowls, and textured stitches like cables.
