Sugarplum Jumper - Intermediate (Class 4)

Take your knitting to the next level with the Sugarplum Jumper, a stylish bottom-up sweater featuring a cozy turtleneck and elegant bishop sleeves. Over the course of 8 weeks, you'll learn advanced knitting techniques while creating a beautiful and functional garment. This class is perfect for beginners who are ready to take on a more detailed project and elevate their skills. By the end of the course, you'll have a stunning handmade jumper and the skills to tackle even more advanced knitting projects in the future. Supplies not included. Don't worry, they will be available for purchase if you don't have them! 

When: Wednesday nights for 8 weeks 

Time: 6:30 - 8:30 pm (2 hours)

What to bring: 5-8 skeins of aran or bulky weight yarn - 790-1323 yds. Needles size US9 (5.5mm).  

Class Breakdown: 
- Week 1: Understand the importance of swatching, explore top-down vs bottom-up sweater construction, learn how to select the correct size, and get started with casting on.
- Week 2-3: Master the long-tail cast on, the most suitable for garment projects, and knit the body of the sweater, including tips for adapting it to your needs.  
- Week 4-5: Focus on creating the beautiful bishop sleeves and learning techniques for shaping and structure. 
- Week 6-8: Bring everything together by joining the body and sleeves, working on the yoke, and crafting the cozy turtleneck collar. You'll also learn how to perform a sewn bind off and explore finishing techniques for a professional look on sweaters, cardigans, and other garments.
